Darren Wong
Founder and Principal
Darren Wong founded Planology in 2017. He is a leading planning and environment lawyer with over 25 years of legal and town planning experience. He is highly regarded as a specialised advocate appearing before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, and before Planning Panels Victoria and Advisory Committees.
In 2020, Doyles Guide recognised Darren as a leading Planning and Development Lawyer in Victoria.
Darren is sought after for his lateral, big-picture thinking and strategic mindset. His extensive experience as a planning lawyer and a local government planner gives him a unique and highly effective perspective on the issues his clients face and how best to handle them.
Kate Kennedy
Special Counsel
Kate Kennedy is a planning and environment lawyer with over 11 years of legal experience working both in Melbourne and the United Kingdom. Since joining the firm in 2019, she has promptly established herself as an integral member of the Planology team.
With an innate ability to communicate complex concepts simply and persuasively, Kate is highly regarded for her well-considered, robust planning advice coupled with her eye for detail.
Kate is an experienced advocate and appears before VCAT on a range of planning matters. She has also acted for clients in complex proceedings before the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Victorian Court of Appeal.
Annette Lee
Legal Practice Manager
Annette is our Legal Practice Manager and the operational backbone of the firm. She provides a diverse skills mix from client management, to high end legal administration and superb organisation.

Our name.
Dutch planner, JM de Casseres, is said to have coined the term ‘planology’ to describe the science of the spatial organisation of the community. Many of his writings are of their time, but an evident passion for building better cities and towns runs through them, a passion that resonates strongly with us.
We were drawn to one phrase in his 1937 article, ‘Principles of Planology – A Contribution to the Scientific Foundation of Town and Country Planning’:
A place for everything and everything in its place – that, briefly, is the task of planology.
With those planning ideals in mind, we selected ‘Planology’ as our name as it reflects our passion for town planning law and our optimism that the decisions made today will build great cities and towns for future generations.
